You can experience relief and enjoy comfortable vision again.
by Optometrist Dr. Stephen Moffett
Chronic or recurring eye dryness is one of the most common concerns expressed to me by my patients over age 40.
Unlike occasional eye dryness that can be self-treated at home with eye drops, compresses, or supplements -- chronic eye dryness, also referred to as "dry eye" is biologically different and often related to gland dysfunction.
In addition to the discomfort, dry eye presents an increased risk of eye infections, corneal abrasions/ulcers, and difficulty with night driving. It is not a condition to ignore, or "just deal with."
Here's the good news. I have successfully helped numerous dry eye sufferers just like you experience relief and enjoy comfortable vision again.
It begins with a comprehensive eye exam and dry eye consultation, which includes specialized diagnostic testing to evaluate your tear production and ocular surface.
Depending on the results of your testing, I typically prescribe a combination of two advanced and painless treatments available at my office in nearby Coronado Eye Care described below:
OptiLight
OptiLight is a gentle, light-based, non-invasive treatment done in the area below the eyes. It is the first and only Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) FDA-approved for dry eye management. OptiLight uses precise pulses of light to reduce the inflammation that is typically associated with dry eye, improves tear break-up time, and increases gland functionality.
(Got to love light-based therapies. Wrinkle reduction around the eye area is a side benefit of OptiLight!)
Lipiflow
Lipiflow is also an FDA-approved in-office treatment that gently warms the oil gland areas to release blockages and get the glands around the eye properly working again.
I have found the combination of using these two treatments to be the most effective in managing the underlying biological causes for dry eye and alleviating the associated discomfort.
Don't suffer any longer from the discomfort of dry eye. There is help.
